[Hyper Body] Festival Miden

[HYPER BODY]
Curator Silvio De Gracia

Curator partner: The UnifiedField

A new curatorial project of VIDEOPLAY.
FESTIVAL MIDEN
7-9 July Kalamata, Greece

[Hyper Body] introduces a serie of video-performances where artists explore the most extremes possibilities of subversion and manipulation of the body. Through the use of the body in shocking and intense actions, these works reveal unexpected situations of psychological and physical tension. Most of the videos presented a body subjected to high stress states, involved in activities that require contortions, unusual movements, effort and resistance. The extreme body condition constructs images that impact and encourage the viewer to consider their own body under unusual emotional states that are beyond the field of their everyday experience. By manipulating the body in a hyper body dimension, artists can develop new forms of experimentation that articulate surreal approaches, absurd visions, and the crudest forms of a poetics of carnality. At the same time this type of work shed light on contrasting emotions that force the viewer to rethink their own emotions and thoughts in relation to extreme experiences of the body in the context of performance art. Argentinian Dreamers

ARGENTINIAN DREAMERS
Curated by Silvio De Gracia

Kharkiv - 19 March
Kharkiv City Art Gallery, Ukraine
Silvio De Gracia participates as guest curator in CologneOFF 2011 - videoart in a global context - Cologne International Videoart Festival

Argentinian dreamers
This curatorial project tries to show a minimal and partial portion of the video scene in Argentina. The selection reveals and panorama that is strongly marked by a hibrid tendency, where the genres are mixed or confuses, with an intense presence of human action and performative elements, including ludic approaches, caustic irony and even extremes experiences of body art. The discourse of a body that operates and transmits the rawness and reality of his flesh and presence is very relevant, much more so than abstraction or experimental exercises with the medium. Bodies are testimonies. They live and dream and speak of the passage of time, life, death, and the fragility.
Argentinian dreamers exposes much more than simple video art. The medium is intensely questioned from the inside of bodies dreamers.

More than Bodies

[ Visual TV Container ]
Presents:
MORE THAN BODIES
Transvideoplay / Argentina
Curator: Silvio De Gracia

1 March - 4 April 2011
Only on VisualcontainerTV
http://www.visualcontainer.tv/

MORE THAN BODIES includes video performances and other works which, though not clearly framed within the category f action art, reflect a deep anchorage in the performance sphere. It is an attempt to reveal the presence of the body that is trapped and mediatized by video technology or else, to highlight the no-presence of a body that become virtual and electronic. It's an exciting body discourse, but this time the body has ceased to be an object-means to become a mediatized object. More than bodies refers to new bodies in a new intensely ghostly and dissolving presence. Silvio De Gracia

Urban Disturbance [.BOX]

URBAN DISTURBANCE
VIDEO PERFORMANCE IN PUBLIC SPACE
Curator: Silvio De Gracia, Argentina
1 to 21 March 2011
Vernissage 1 and 2 March from 19:00 to 21
Tuesday, March 1st at 19:00 [.BOX] Video Art Project Space presents the exhibit Urban Disturbance video, directed by Silvio De Gracia, curator and founder of the several video art festivals in Buenos Aires and around the world.
In this review, [.BOX] proposes an approach to the performance through actions in public spaces, with predominantly destructive intent or conflict. These works are strategies and actions that demonstrate the evolution of urban art.
Among the videos is proposed in this work "Quien puede borrar las huellas" (Who can erase the traces) of Regina José Galindo, Golden Lion (artist under 35) at the 51st. Venice Biennale.
Urban Disturbance
is pure poetic subversion aimed at the demolition of rationality and standardization of urban and social behavior. It is an opportunity to see the "undisciplined body", the body does not function to the rule, the body that deals with rebel predictability, trying to cross with micro-destabilizing events, unexpected, strange, new paths, or cracks to open further bewilderment in the logic of urban territories. It's a disorder embodied in an artistic process, ephemeral, contingent, and repetitive. Disorder gaps through strategies that make us see the new boundaries and work to break the boundaries between the space of "reality" abd the size metaphorical art. Silvio De Gracia
